Work With Us?

Capital Mag is dedicated to telling the untold stories of our world, with a particular interest in how artistic expression plays a role in this. Capital Mag provides a forum for the ideas, thoughts, stories, expressions, events, projects, and movements in our culture that challenge existing concepts and act as inspiration to our readers and contributors. We are looking for innovative ideas, in the form of writing, film, music or art.

For writers: As well as original topics, we expect our writers to provide unique means of conveying their subject matter. This involves adhering to the following guidelines: 1) proper framing of the story; 2) a connection to the issueí¢â‚¬â„¢s theme; 3) thorough knowledge of the subject; 4) a creative method of telling it and; 5) a written style appropriate to the theme that will engage the reader. Whenever possible, images should accompany articles, and multi-media submissions (for example, film and audio) are encouraged. If appropriate, hyperlinks should be incorporated into the text. Please ensure that all copyright issues have been cleared where applicable for any images, video or text that appears with your article.

Because Capital is an online publication, articles must be kept relatively short. 500 í¢â‚¬“ 600 words is the optimum, with 750 being the very upper end. If you can say what you have to with less words, that is great. Articles must quickly captivate the reader and hold them long enough so they doní¢â‚¬â„¢t simply click on to another web site.

Please stay in contact with your assigned editor to produce the most fitting length and style of your article.

For artists:

Artists can be involved with Capital in several ways:

1. Artists can make their artwork available to Capital to pair with appropriate articles. All artwork will be properly credited to the artist and a link to their website/portfolio will be provided.

2. Artists can design specific artwork for Capital.

3. Every issue, Capital features a guest curator. Capitalmag.comí¢â‚¬â„¢s guest curators are talented and often multidisciplinary artists. As a guest curator, you will be given a section of capitalmag.com, called Mash, within which you are at liberty to create an environment, chronicle a project, or provide insight on a particular issue. For more information about this option, click here.

All contributors will be fully credited for any and all work that appears in Capital Mag. Capital Mag will not use your work in any manner beyond publishing it on the Capital Mag website, www.capitalmag.com, unless you have given written permission to do so. If you wish to re-publish work that has been originally published in Capital Mag on another site, please credit Capital Mag as the original source of publication and/or link to www.capitalmag.com.

At this time, Capital is unfortunately not able to provide any financial compensation for published work.
