Guest Curator Information

Capitalmag.comí¢â‚¬â„¢s guest curators are talented and often multidisciplinary artists. As a guest curator,í‚   you will be given a section of capitalmag.com , called Mash, within which you are at liberty to create an environment, chronicle a project, or provide insight on a particular issue.

The overarching framework of your section is as follows: you can create, curate or locate any form of content you feel would benefit by public display, and public consumption. You are free to interpret this in any way you like. For example, you could provide a snapshot of your own past work, projects you are working on, and plans for the future; examine analogous art/cultural/political movements; display artists/other cultural actors that you find particularly important or innovative; or examine aspects of a particular building, city, person, trend, philosophy, style etc.

These are, of course, only suggestions and the sky is really the limit (as long as our server can handle it!). We encourage our guest curators to push boundaries as much as possible when considering how they will be approaching their section. We also encourage our guest curators to include diverse media in their curated sections, if possible.

As well, each capitalmag.com monthly issue is built around a theme. For our web relaunch in September 2007, our theme was í¢â‚¬ËœRites of Passageí¢â‚¬â„¢. As a rule, our themes are broad enough to encompass a wide range of content while still offering our editors, contributors, and guest curators some direction.

We like to be as rigid as possible with deadlines. For curated sections, our deadlines are usually about a week and half before launching. If you have any issues regarding deadlines or any questions at all related to your work with capitalmag.com please contact Myles Estey, our editor at editor@capitalmag.com.Thank you again for your interest in curating for capitalmag.com. We really look forward to your contribution!

Sincerely,

The Editors
