Writing: The lost art form - By Lauren Sloan

I caní¢â‚¬â„¢t think of the last time that I wrote a letter. I mean properly put pen to paper, sealed and addressed an envelope, put on a stamp and posted a letter. Communication has understandably moved away from the painstakingly slow and sometimes unreliable postal service, but lately it seems like writing itself is going the way of the letter.

Coachella Review í¢â‚¬“ By Jo Hughes

Submitted by capitalmag1 on June 3, 2007 - 6:46pm.

Arguably the best thing about the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is that you know everyone there with you really likes music. I doní¢â‚¬â„¢t mean that they like having the radio on while theyí¢â‚¬â„¢re cleaning their house, or that they take their MP3 player with them on their weekend run. Maybe they do that too, I doní¢â‚¬â„¢t know, but these people really like music í¢â‚¬“ they have traveled for hours in search of a great show.

Nightmare USA Film Festival in Hammersmith, London - By Andrew Skeates

Submitted by capitalmag on June 3, 2007 - 6:03pm.
Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez are promising to resurrect the long dead tradition of trash cinema for the mainstream with their upcoming, double-bill opus, Grindhouse. Celebrating the filth infested, gore soaked, grub drenched pictures of the 70í¢â‚¬â„¢s and 80í¢â‚¬â„¢s, Grindhouse promises to take us back to the not-so PC days, where in cinematic terms, anything went. If you happened to find yourself in Riverside Studios, Hammersmith, London on Saturday May 5th, then you will have already been transported back to the era of Grindhouse. Nightmare USA promised ten hours of Grindhouse Movie Mayhem and it certainly delivered. Held by Stephen Thrower and his Fab press cohorts and serving as a launch for Throwerí¢â‚¬â„¢s new book, also titled Nightmare USA, the festival showcased five features all which will not be turning up at your local video store anytime soon. Proceedings kicked off with the films Doní¢â‚¬â„¢t Go in the House (1979), Pigs (1972) and Bloody Brothers (2003).

His work is preoccupied with the crossover of sound and listening practice with radical political gesture, with the autonomy of the image and sovereignty from recuperation, and the political role of the artist.
